BASIC LOCKSMITHING COURSE #501:

Sweeping overview of Basic Locksmithing with hands on experience. Instruction includes key identification, key duplication and key duplication machines, various lock hardware and their applications, lock picking, impressioning, code cutting, basic masterkeying, and basic safe servicing. Specific tools are provided to successfully accomplish the course.

These are evening classes with a duration of 122 hours; 82 hours of lecture, 16 hours of lab and 24 hours externship. The classes will normally be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 5pm - 9:15pm with 15 minute breaks at 6:30pm and 8:00pm. Should the need arise to operate a second class in order to keep the class size under 12 students, classes may be held on Monday and Wednesday following the same time schedule.


BASIC LOCKSMITHING COURSE #501A (ACCELERATED CLASS):

This is the same class described above however it is compressed into a 3-week period of 5 days per week, 8:00am till 5:00pm. Due to the intense nature of the accelerated format, prior approval of the CSPL Director and Lead Instructor is required.


BASIC RETAIL LOCKSMITH OPERATIONS #502:

The BASIC LOCKSMITHING course is a pre-requisite of this course. This program is designed to give the student an education in the daily operations of a locksmithing business, both retail sales floor as well as in-store service department.

This course is designed to run concurrently with the regular BASIC LOCKSMITHING course starting in the fifth week and consecutively with the ACCELERATED course. A workbook is issued with specific tasks to accomplish and specific skills to apply and record.

This course, including BASIC, totals 250 hours; 82 hours of lecture, 16 hours of lab and 152 hours externship, meeting twice weekly in a specified sister company retail location.


BASIC FIELD LOCKSMITH OPERATIONS #503:

The #501,#502 and #501A are pre-requisites of this course. This program is designed to enhance the students' expanding knowledge by allowing him/her to experience the multitude of challenges encountered in a service vehicle in the field. This portion of the course begins after completion of the BASIC and RETAIL.

FIELD OPERATIONS requires an additional 320 hours consisting of 5 days per week for a period of 8 weeks in a sister company service vehicle. The student will be supervised by a Service Technician professional in these vehicles. At no time will the student act as an agent of the sister company by attempting to perform service work unsupervised.
